A bipartisan bill that would revamp New York’s 175-year-old wrongful death statute was swiftly vetoed by Gov. Kathy Hochul not once but twice. Under the current 175-year-old law, families can only cite “economic hardship” caused — rather than damages caused by pain and suffering. New York State Trial Lawyers Association President David Scher joins us to discuss the Grieving Families Act.
